Zazoo U is a school for the adventurous. Its students consist of Griz, a hoggish stubborn but good-hearted pig; Bully Wooly Mammoth, a gentle giant who loves to play the piano; and Slogo and Logan, two Eastern-European relatives who come from a carnival and bring their circus-antics into the school with them. And it's not just the students: Miss Devine is an extravagant bohemian teacher with a pet "rarf" (an unknown species); the science lecturer, Dr Russell, is a walrus; and the music teacher thinks of himself as the new Frank Sinatra and always sings a song. Much of the school's involves talent agents from outer space, invisible strings seen only through imagination, and most notably live-action kids who stampede around when the bell rings (woe betide anyone in their path). However, in spite of all these insane occurrences, there is always a sane moral at the center of the story that aids in instructing a lesson to the students as well as the viewer.

Gustavo travels to the desert of Wirikuta in search of native species for his research. During his journey into the desert a series of strange events haunt him until one night he is assaulted, losing all of his belongings. The will to survive forces him to start the trek across the desert. It seems all is lost until Ana, his dead wife, appears. With the help of an old Huichol, Gustavo will confront his past and present life.
